Guess what the next wild college trend is going to be? Hey, if it ain't got the swing, it don't mean a thing!
It has been a long time, since the youth of America has really danced. No slow talentless dancing, or lame hands waving house music. This time, America dances.
In every major city a club can be found full of "Swing Kids" (as they were called in the 1930's). Swing dancing has not risen to the level of its preceding era, but it is growing everyday. New 'Big Bands' are starting to pop up out of the wood work, but they are still rare, and it is even more rare to find a Night Club with live music. Fortunately, this has not hindered the Swing Spirit and the demand is still rising!
Just recently, I too have join the new trend setters! I have always wanted to learn some sort of advanced partner dance, but there has not been anything good to learn. Thank goodness for me, History repeats itself, and I am on my way to becoming a swing kid. I just started swing dancing at the beginning of the year. I didn't have a clue, but I knew a couple people who are pretty good. I usually dance at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, MI. Its pretty cool. Its not as popular as Powerball but we do get some good crowds.
